Faith Like Gold
Matthew 5:8
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Purity deals with the inward and outward part of a person
Matthew 23:25-28
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean. 27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
The Blessings of Purity:
- Purity realigns our heart
- Purity renews our mind
- Purity refocuses our faith
- 1 Timothy 1:5
- 5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
The Downfalls of Lack of Purity:
- A lack of purity can lead us to places we shouldn’t be.
- A lack of purity can lead us to have conversations we shouldn’t have.
- A lack of purity can lead us to be someone’s stumbling block towards their walk of repentance.
- 2 Timothy 2:22-26
- 22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant[a] must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
Eye-opening truths to purity:
- Purity helps us recognize our God-given purpose in serving others.
- James 1:26-27
- If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
- Purity helps us to see God’s provision and guidance in our lives.
- Exodus 13:21
- And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.
3.Purity helps us to see God’s beauty.
Psalm 27:4
One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple.
Job 23:9-11
on the left hand when he is working, I do not behold him;
he turns to the right hand, but I do not see him.
10 But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
11 My foot has held fast to his steps;
