How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth, by Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart. Provides an easy-to-read introduction to basic principles for reading the Bible such as how to choose translations and how to read different genres.
How to Choose a Translation for All Its Worth: A Guide to Understanding and Using Bible Versions, by Gordon Fee and Mark Strauss. A survey of all that goes into translating from one language and culture into another, with a chapter comparing modern English versions.
Christian Beliefs: Twenty Basics Every Christian Should Know, by Wayne Grudem. Based on his large systematic theology textbook, Grudem summarizes twenty basic beliefs of the Christian faith in 2-3 pages per belief. A great book to begin exploring further what the Bible teaches.
The God Who is There: Finding Your Place in God's Story, by D. A. Carson. While Grudem's book looks at logical beliefs based on various verses throughout Scripture, Carson's book walks the reader through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, helping you understand the basic message of each portion of Scripture. Excellent book to help you understand your Bible as a whole.
Larry Moyer's How-To Book on Personal Evangelism, by Larry Moyer. A brief and helpful book with many practical tips on how to steer a conversation toward the topic of faith and salvation, and how to clearly present the gospel using Scripture and easy illustrations for clarity.
